The Itagunmodi Progressive Youth Forum has  the attention of the Local Council Development of Atakunmosa West Central over the outbreak of cholera disease that had killed three and two tested positive in the community.

This was disclosed to news men by residents of the community while speaking of the outbreak of the obnoxious disease in the Gold mining community.

The residents of the community claimed that the environment is dirty and seriously unkempt and there is no access to quality water thereby enhancing the outbreak of the disease that claimed three lives and two recorded cases receiving treatment.

The assistant secretary to the village, Mr Alapa Oladapo Clinton commented that the source of the problem is no other than an untidy environment since the invasion of gold miners in the community.

He said: “The people could not have access to good drinkable water. The entire community’s water system is crying for help.

It saddens that we found ourselves in the horrible situation as most of the happenings in this part of the state don’t get to the media space.”

He revealed that most of the terrible happenings in this part of the state don’t get to the media space and this has further contributed to their plights.

Meanwhile, the sudden outbreak of the fatal disease is caused by the Vibrio cholera bacterium through ingestion of contaminated water or food usually marked by severe gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting and dehydration.

According to Itagunmodi Progressive Youth forum, Itagunmodi remains a hygienic environment until the invasion of northerners who were in the quest for greener pastures and mining purposes.

The union further called on the council to assist the community to rehabilitate their water systems as that had been one of the hostile contributors to their health systems in the community.
