AT THE BEGINNING
At the beginning of the creation, God created everything perfectly. There was no disease in the world. He made it all beautiful.
“And God saw everything that He had made and behold it was very good…” (Gen 1:31, KJV)
He saw everything He had made and it was very good. There was no sickness and disease in the world by then. In the then world, Adam and his wife Eve were living happily. There was no stress, sickness or disease. They were living well and bountifully until they sinned and Satan introduced disease into the world then due to their disobedience to God’s instruction. So the fall of man brought sickness and disease into the world.
In the wilderness
As the people journeyed in the wilderness, sickness was one of the things the Lord dealt with. He knew that they would probably fall sick and He made a provision for their healing.
“ And said, if thou will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ears to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the Lord that healeth thee.”
(Exod. 15:26, KJV)
As long as they listened attentively to God’s voice and did that which was right in His sight and obeyed the Lord’s commandments, He would not permit (not put) any of the diseases they saw on them. In other words, God promised to protect them from sickness and disease as long as they obeyed Him. We can then deduce from the above that sickness and disease was a punishment on the children of disobedience. He went further to establish the fact that He is their Jehovah- Rapha, the Lord that healed them. They should look up to the Lord as their Jehovah Rapha, a covenant name of the Lord to heal us.
The Lord went further to establish His covenant of healing for the people of Israel.
“And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and He shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfill.”(Exod. 23:25, 26, KJV)
Serve the Lord your God. Quality service unto the Lord bails us out of many problems. He said further that He will bless our bread (food) and water. When God blesses your food and water, then you are safe. There are many diseases we contact through our food and water, so when God blesses these, you live healthily. He will then take away sickness from their midst. This was divine prescription as they journeyed in the wilderness.
God goes on to say that He would protect them from premature death. His will for us was (is) to live to our full old age. Premature death is not in His plans for our lives. Barrenness is a curse of the law. He commanded us to be fruitful and multiply (Gen 1:28). God has given His word concerning barrenness. Claim it!! Barrenness will have to go away. It is not the will of God.
“Thou shall be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.”(Deut 7:14 KJV)
God did not allow our cattle to be barren, how much more we that He created in His own image. Barrenness must go away from your life. Say NO to barrenness.
“And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt which thou knowest upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.”(Deut 7:15, KJV)
As they journeyed in the wilderness, He promised to take away from them all sickness. He will not allow any of the evil diseases of Egypt which they already knew to come to them. He would lay them upon their enemies. Claim your authority now. You are far from sickness and disease in Jesus mighty Name.
He healed our barrenness
At the early part of our marriage, the enemy attacked us with barrenness. At that time, I didn’t take anything seriously. I was busy with ministering here and there fulfilling God’s call upon my life. I was so captivated by His call upon my life. My wife was having miscarriages and was not able to conceive and brought it to term.
One day, my wife had a dream in which the most notorious witch in her extended family pointed at her and said ‘you think you would ever conceive, never!’ She said it to my wife in a deep vernacular (Yoruba) language. My wife was not used to such a proverbial vernacular language. She woke up from sleep and asked me the meaning of such Yoruba proverb. I told her. The woman boasted that my wife would never conceive. It was then I stood my ground, telling the devil he has lost the battle. I stood my ground on the word of God commanding barrenness to depart. I laid hands on my wife commanding her to be fruitful. That same month, my wife took in and brought the pregnancy to term. Glory to God, when I exercised my faith, He answered me.
CHAPTER 2
THE MIRACLE OF THE BRAZEN SERPENT
In the journey of Israel through the wilderness, they went from mount Hur by the way of the Red sea to compass the land of Edom. It was a very hard journey which really discouraged the heart of people. So, they spoke against God and His servant Moses, saying…
“Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread; and our soul loatheth this light bread.” (Num 21:5)
Because they murmured and complained, God’s judgment fell on them. God hated murmuring. If you want to enjoy His blessings, learn to appreciate Him always. When you praise Him, He will raise you. Complaint or murmuring breeds hardship and problem. Billy Graham once said “God can never use a discouraged servant”.
Because the people murmured, God sent a serpent to bite them and many people died.
“And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died” (Num21:6)
The fiery serpents were sent as judgment against the people of God. They were being bitten and many of them died in the wilderness.
The people of God then cried unto the Lord. They went to Moses to confess their sin of anger against the Lord and asked Moses to pray for them. He prayed to God on their behalf and God answered his prayer.
“And the Lord said unto Moses, make thee a fiery serpent and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. And Moses made a serpent of brass and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”(Num21:8, 9)
The remedy God gave Moses was to make a serpent of brass and hanged it upon a pole. As many as were bitten and they looked upon the brazen serpent on the pole were made whole and delivered. This typified Jesus Christ that was hanged on a pole, the pole of Calvary, for us. As many as looked up to Him were made whole when they were bitten by the serpent, Satan.
This was God’s mercy of healing His people in the wilderness. God made a way for the healing of His people in the olden days in the wilderness. God did it to prove His love still for His loving ones. He hated sickness and He made a way out for them. Healing is a mercy from God. Today as many as would look unto Jesus and visualized Him on the cross, they would be healed. On the cross, He bled for you. “By His stripes, you were healed.”(Isaiah 53:5, 1Peter2:24). Claim your healing today. Look upon the cross and be healed.
CHAPTER 3
THE LIFE OF THE FLESH
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar…” (Lev17:11)
In this chapter, I am trying to teach a little bit on the blood based on the knowledge of medical science.
“The life of the flesh is in the blood.” This is scientifically accurate and would be accepted as such by any physiologist.
I am teaching on human blood viewing it as a feeble shadow and representation of the blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, by which He washed us clean from all sins and inadequacies of life. A distinguished physiologist, Trevor Heaton MD, Oxford University said speaking of the human body: “At present we can only explore the outer fringes of this extraordinary organization and as in all scientific discovery, this is all we can hope to do.” This is true of the body as a whole and also of each of its component parts, including the blood.
First, what is the blood?
It is a red liquidthat flows in the vessels of the body. Turn the microscope on it, and you find a fluid- the plasma with solid particles floating in it, some red, some white. These are the corpuscles. The bright scarlet colour is due to haemoglobin, the colouring pigment of the red corpuscles.
Second, what is its function?
Everything comes to the body through the agency of the blood.
“Not without blood.”(Heb9:7)
No cleansing without the Blood of Jesus. It is through the blood of Jesus we get our cleansing both from sin and disease.
To be more specific the blood has the following functions:
(a) It removes various excrementitious materials to the proper channels of elimination. This is in consonance with the blood of Jesus.
“How much more shall the blood of Christ…purge (Heb9:14)
…the blood of Jesus Christ His son, cleanseth us from all sin” (1John1:7)
It has been appropriately said that nine tenths of disease in the world is caused by failure in elimination. Thank God, the Blood of Jesus eliminates from our lives sin and disease so that we are made whole.
(b) The blood carries to each cell in the body (there are millions of them) its necessary food, making a complete circuit of the body in 45 to 50 seconds. Of the Blood of Christ, the word says “Except ye eat the flesh of the son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you…my blood is drink indeed” (John6:53, 55).
In Luke 22:20, we read
“This cup is the new testament (covenant) in my blood.”
Everything God promised us comes to us through the blood of Jesus Christ.
(c) The blood helps in keeping the temperature of our bodies normal. God wants our spiritual temperature kept normal.
“Because thou art lukewarm… I will spue thee out of my mouth” (Rev 3:16)
When Peter followed Jesus afar off, he had to warm himself.
(d) It brings each cell into contact with the atmosphere and its life-giving oxygen by means of the haemoglobin of the red corpuscles. The oxygen brought to the cells sets “fire” to the waste matter and the “ashes” are carried off by the blood.
In cases of haemorrhage, what is the remedy to survive? Transfusion of the blood. When we are hungry for God and cannot find Him, what we need is the Blood of Jesus which gives us access to His presence (Heb10:19)
(e) The blood also conveys hormones to certain organs from the place of manufacture to the organs that have to carry out its function. For instance, adrenaline which is said to be useful in “fight or flight” mechanism. Adrenaline is believed to conquer death for the time being. Of the Blood of Jesus Christ, we read that by His death on the cross, He destroyed him that had the power of death, that is, the devil (Heb2:14), so that Saints of God can now overcome Satan by the Blood of the Lamb (Rev12:11).
(f) Human blood defends the body by actually conquering deadly microbes when they get into the circulation. The “soldiers” of the blood, white corpuscles, called leukocytes, stand up and fight them till they die. So, the Blood of the Lamb overcomes all Satan’s power of sin, sickness and death if we will believe and use it. As believers, it is our authority to use the Blood. It will bring victory every time we use it in faith as faith will see to it that Satan is defeated.
(g) By the process of coagulation, the blood stops bleeding, seals up the wound and starts repair work at the point of injury.
“So, the Blood of Jesus heals our wounds, makes us whole, strong and sound with perfect soundness.”(Acts3:16)
(h) The blood continually bathes every cell in the body in tissue lymph. This is their proper atmosphere without which they could not live. Also, the Blood of Jesus Christ brings us into communion and fellowship with God, the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. (1John1:3). God appeared in the tabernacle upon the mercy seat (the place where the blood was sprinkled) (Lev16:2).
Having known all these facts about the human blood in relation to the Blood of Jesus lay your hand upon the place of your sickness. Pray for the Blood of Jesus to soak it, that is, plead the Blood of Jesus on the area. Command the healing power to enter therein. Decree your healing over and over again. Receive your healing in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
CHAPTER 4
THE FIVE REASONS WHY GOD HEALS TODAY
God is the Healer. There is no sickness or disease that is beyond His power. Though medical science is limited, God has given some advancement in it to help the suffering humanity. But God is not limited in His operations.He specializes in healing you. There is no disease that is beyond His ability. It is a common thought around that human beings can try but it’s God that heals.
There are many reasons why God heals today. Five of such reasons are stated below. If you are sick, believe God that He will heal you because of any one of these reasons stated below:
(1) God heals today because He loves you. The love of God for your life cannot be quantified. He loves you more than you love yourself. You are the crown of His creation.
“And God said; Let us make man in our image, after one likeness: and let them have dominion…” (Gen 1:26)
He made you in His image and after His likeness. He cannot begin to look at you suffering. Just reach out to Him in faith and He will heal you. He loves you so much and wants to help you.
Whenever Jesus saw a great multitude, He was always moved with compassion to help them. He loved the suffering masses.
“And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion toward them, and He healed their sickness;” (Mat 14:14)
Jesus saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion and He healed their sickness. Compassion is what made Jesus to show mercy or pity on the sick. It draws out God’s power to heal the sick. It places you on the anointing. Every healing minister must have the spirit of compassion flowing out of him towards the sick. It makes us able to minister well to the sick.
(2) The second reason He heals today is because healing is the children’s bread. Healing is the children’s bread. God originally prepared healing for His children. It is their legitimate right. Jesus Christ purchased their healing and forgiveness of their sin through His death on the cross.
“For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of Him, and came and fell at His feet.
The woman was a Greek, a syrophenician by nature; and she besought Him that He would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.
But Jesus said unto her, let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and cast it unto the dogs.
And she answered and said unto Him, yes Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs.
And He said unto her, for this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.”(Mark 7:25-29)
In the ministry of Jesus here on earth, He knew whom He was sent to. He was sent to the household of Israel. His ministry (ministrations) was limited to Israel from where the gospel eventually spread to other nations through His early disciples after His death. In this particular incident, a strange woman of Greek origin came to Jesus to receive deliverance for her daughter. Jesus answer should put her off for she was told that healing belonged to those He was sent to reach, that is, the children. Yet, the woman would not take NO for an answer. She insisted. She wanted an answer by all means. The woman seemed to say “okay, I know I am a dog but Master, the dog eats the fringe benefit from its owner. Give me the crumbs, I am satisfied.” Jesus was surprised at her answer. She was moved by her act of faith. And you know that faith gets the answer. Any time you operate with God in faith, He will always answer you. Faith does not fail. “Go thy way; the devil is cast out of thy daughter.” This was sufficient for the woman. The words of Jesus were enough. A single word from the Lord changes the situation. “It is sufficient for me”, the woman seemed to say.
Take note of it that healing belongs to us, the children of God. Jesus said “healing is the children’s bread.” It is meant for the children of Israel and we are the spiritual Israel. Furthermore, take the words of Jesus seriously. The Greek woman believed the words of Jesus and she got a healing (deliverance) for her daughter. Take the words of Jesus seriously. He has said it in the scriptures .You are bound to be healed in Jesus name. Claim your healing now.
(3) The third reason why He heals you is because healing is in the atonement. The Lord made a provision for our healing right in the Old Testament times. Prophet Isaiah prophesied of what would happen when Jesus would come into the world. This was many years before Jesus came. He prophesied that Jesus would suffer and shed His blood for our atonement, our redemption as we call it today. In His suffering, He made a provision for our healing. He died the same death for our salvation and healing. He did not die a separate death for our sins and a separate one for our sickness and disease. He died a single death to take care of our sins, sickness, disease and even poverty.There is healing in the atonement. Claim yours now. He heals because there is healing in the atonement.
“Surely He hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.”(Isaiah53:4, 5)
The words “griefs” and “sorrows” in verse 4 above means “sickness” and “pain” respectively. Jesus carried on His body our sickness and pain. You do not need to carry them again. He carried them away. Do not allow the devil put sickness and pain on you again. There is healing in His passion, death and resurrection. Claim yours now. Don’t give the devil a chance in your life. Jesus took them away. What He took away, you need not to carry them upon your body again.
(4) The fourth reason is that God is no respecter of persons. Whatever He did in time past, He is going to do them again today. He is no respecter of persons. What He did for the woman with the issue of blood, He would do the same thing for any woman undergoing such a trouble today. What He did for the blind Bartimaeus, He would do the same for any man in such problem today. He is no respecter of persons.
“…of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons.”(Acts 10:34)
“For there is no respect of persons with God” (Rom 2:11)
Healing belongs to us. All of us children of God stand equally before the Lord. God does not like a child of God more than He likes others. He is no respecter of persons. Healing is your heritage. Claim yours now. Ask Him in faith and you shall receive. He honours the faith of the believers. He will respond positively to your faith. You are bound to be healed.
(5) God heals today also because He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever” (Heb 13:8)
Jesus Christ is ever the same. He is the Ancient of Days but He doesn’t change like human beings. His power does not diminish. He is still powerful as in the days of the old. Whatever you read about Him in the scriptures, He will still do the same today. His power is ever constant.
And note that your problem is not too big for Him to handle. When doctors say that there is no hope, then He has just started His power. Turn it over to Him. His power is unlimited and there is nothing He cannot handle. He
created you. He even created the devil. He said:
“I created the waster to destroy” (Isaiah45; 7; Isaiah54; 16)
What can He not do? I pray that you will receive the faith to believe Him now. “With God all things are possible and all things are possible to Him that believes.”(Mark 9; 23)
Jesus is ever the same. Trust Him absolutely. He will do it for you again.
CHAPTER 5
HEALING PRECAUTIONS
When a Christian is somewhere in his house or office, healing precautions are what he or she will do before personal ministration is done to him or her. This will quicken the manifestation of his healing. These are very necessary for the healing power of the Lord to reach him / her very quickly. They are:
(1) Get rid of all known sin in your life.
“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church and let them pray over him anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord”
(James 5:14)
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”
(I John 1:9)
Before personal ministration is done to you, get rid of known sin in your life. The sin may be a hindrance to receiving the healing from the Lord. There are some sicknesses that it is sin that brings them into your life. Clear the way for your healing to come to you.
The passage in I John above is addressed to believers. The Lord tells us to confess our sins. For unbelievers, they don’t need to list their sins for they are too many. How many sins do they want to confess? They are living in sin. They are full of sin. They should just ask God to cleanse them and forgive all their sins. But believers, they are not the servant of sins. They should just ask God’s forgiveness for their sins and the Lord will forgive them.
This is a very important step in receiving their healing.
(2) Forgive others so that you can be forgiven.
“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”
(Mark 11:24, 25)
Unforgiveness is a major hindrance to your healing. Don’t let it block your healing. Forgive anyone that offends you so that your healing might not be blocked. Offence can come through different reasons: the offence from in-laws, the offence from friends, business disappointment, marital problems, and ingratitude from those you have been good to, etc. Remember that if you harbour resentment or unforgiveness, it will surely lead to an obstacle in your healing or other blessings. Anyone who harbours unforgiveness is inviting some medical problems into his life. It has been discovered that unforgiveness, anger and resentment can lead to cancer of the colon. Many have lost their lives that way. In the end, they will not make heaven. Why don’t you forgive and let go of the unforgiveness? In life, we shall be having friction in our relationships as we relate together. It is bound to occur. But we are to make sure that this problem does not affect our lives.
Don’t you know that many have been sent by the devil to affect you? Beware! Run away from such people who have been programmed to affect you negatively in life. Don’t let any man or woman affect your relationship with God. When you forgive others, God Himself will forgive you and healing will come unto you.
(3) Locate specific scriptures to back up your faith
Try and locate some specific scriptures to back your faith. The Word of God is powerful and eternal.
“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.” (Mark 13: 31)
Anchor your faith on the Word of God. The Word does not fail. If all else fails, the Word does not fail. Stand upon the Word. You are already receiving your miracles. The Word of God will put you over.
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55: 11)
God’s Word will not return unto God void. It will accomplish its purpose for which it is sent. Stand on the Word. Your miracle is happening already as you stand on the Word.
You will find healing capsules at the end of this book. Pick the relevant ones to your need and meditate on them, standing in faith. The Word of God does not fail. It is eternal. By it, God created everything we see in the world today and those things we do not see. Just be unmovable. Be determined. The Word does not fail. Agree in faith with the person praying for you. Your miracles and healings are sure.
(4) Prepare yourself to act immediately in faith.
When you are prayed for, act immediately in faith. Do not still expect people to sympathise with you. The sympathy of people will worsen the situation. Act in faith immediately you are prayed for. If you couldn’t walk before, stand up and walk immediately you are prayed for. As you take a step of faith, you will surely get better with each step taken. Whatever you couldn’t do before, begin to do it, now that you have been prayed for. Each action step taken will get better along the way.
With the woman with the issue of blood, that is, pathological haemorrhage, she made up her mind that she would be healed the moment she touched the garment of Jesus.
“For she said, If I may touch but His clothes, I shall be made whole.” (Mark 5: 28)
Immediately she touched His clothes, the fountain of her blood got dried up. Jesus then commended her that her faith had made her whole (verse 34).
Action of faith starts immediately you are prayed for. What you could not do before, begin to do it now.
(5) Believe that you have received
“Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”(Mark 11: 24)
Be fully persuaded that you have received your miracle. Don’t doubt and don’t say what if I don’t receive. God is eager to heal you more than you are willing to be healed.
This truth came in one of our international crusades. I was in Nellore in Andra Pradhesh, India, in 2005. An open air crusade was floated near a Buddhist temple, the only available vacant space in the town. Holding a crusade near the Buddhist temple was risky; it could spark off a religious crisis. But I went ahead to pray, believing God to take over, which He did.
I was on the crusade platform telling the crowd that Jesus power was unlimited. That Jesus can heal the sick, open the eyes of the blind and make the paralysed ones to walk, etc. I was boasting of Jesus’ power and telling people how powerful and mighty Jesus was and still is.
A woman in the congregation was hearing this and was challenged. She believed all the reports she heard about Jesus, came and dropped her paralysed daughter on the stage openly as the message was going on and left. As far as she was concerned, she believed that if Jesus can do all what I said He could, then her daughter had been healed. This was an open challenge to me, the preacher.
When I saw this done, I didn’t understand what she meant. My crusade interpreter (translator) was dumb-founded and could not interpret again. Perhaps he was afraid too. I asked him what that meant but didn’t interpret. After some break in silence for few minutes, the translator only told me the girl was paralysed. So, I took up the challenge to pray for this girl once I had told them of what Jesus could do. Take note of this – if you are not sure of the power in the Name of Jesus and you are not sure you have been anointed, don’t ever go to India. T.L. Osborn told us he went there at the beginning of his missionary crusade evangelism, he returned home (USA) disappointed for he didn’t witness miracles as he said in his sermon.
In the presence of everybody on the crusade ground, I laid my hand on this girl on the platform. There was a dead silence there. The left leg of this girl was twisted, facing backward. Her right leg was twisted, facing sideward. The crippling was extraordinary. In fact, seeing the state of the condition could even puncture someone’s faith. As I was praying, I saw the left leg moving and the foot faced forward normally. The right leg also moved and the Lord told me to use my hand to straighten her leg. She stood upright and was walking. There was a standing ovation. They were full of joy.
It was the second day the mother gave a testimony on the crusade ground that she said her daughter was paralysed, deaf and dumb. All these diseases in one person and Jesus healed her. I prayed for God to heal paralysis but God went ahead to heal all these diseases. God went ahead of us to deal with everything.
Needless to say, there was a larger crowd the next day because everybody was rushing to come to the crusade for God’s touch. It was a glorious time.
The mother of the girl believed what was said and was ready to take God at His word. You too have to believe that you have received when you are prayed for. He that believeth God is not ashamed. You shall not be ashamed in Jesus Name. Amen.
CHAPTER 6
GOD’S HEALING METHODS
First and foremost, you need to realise the fact that God heals us through faith. Without faith it is impossible to get anything, including healing, from God. Also, you must realise the fact that God is the Healer. He can manifest His healing through some different methods, examples of which are in the scriptures.
“…I am the Lord that healeth thee (I am your Jehovah – Rapha)” Exod. 15: 26
Any of the following methods will work for you. Use any of them depending on your faith.
(1) Asking in the Name of Jesus
“And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
“Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” (John 16: 23, 24)
When you ask the Father for healing using the Name of Jesus, He will give it to you. You pray to God using the name of Jesus and He will do it. It is a promise in His word as stated above. He said “ask and ye shall receive that your joy maybe full.” When healing comes in answer to prayer, our joy will be full. Pray to the Father God in the Name of Jesus and He will answer you.
(2) The laying on of hands.
“And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.
“And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.” (Mat 8: 14, 15)
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; … they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover”
(Mark 16: 17a, 18b)
“And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
“And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
“And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.” (Luke 13: 11-13)
“Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers’ diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.”
(Luke 4: 40)
We saw in the examples given above how Jesus laid His hands on the sick and they were healed.
When hands are laid on the sick, the power of God flows through those hands that are laid on the sick and it transfers onto the sick bodies and they are healed. The hands of the person praying for the sick are anointed for them to heal the sick. The anointing of God is transferable through substances like hands, clothes, shadow, oil and we see in the scriptures.
Several times, the sick feels a power surge passed into him. The surge can be like electricity or cold water poured into him. Or he may not feel any such thing but there is transference of the spirit into him that drives away sickness and disease.
When Jesus held the hand of Peter’s mother-in-law, there was a power surge into her and the woman was made whole immediately. When He laid His hands on a woman bound with infirmity, she was loosed from her bondage and was straightened up. Whenever and wherever Jesus laid His hands on the sick, they were always made whole. There was power in His hands.
God has anointed you to heal the sick. When hands are laid on the sick, they are bound to recover. There is the power of God in your hands. But like one man of God said “Do not lay empty hands on empty heads”. Make sure the anointing of God comes on you so that the power can flow through your hands. Pay the sacrifice for the anointing to come. There are sacrifices to pay. You will come across this in this book.
(3) Anointing with oil
“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
“And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” (James 5: 14, 15)
There is a mystery in the anointing oil. When the oil is in the bottle, it is ordinary oil that you can buy in the market; but when it is prayed upon, it turns to anointing oil which is mysterious in operation. When applied by faith to anything, it performs the work of the Holy Spirit. It is so effective and miraculous.
It is a medium for the operation of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit uses it as a medium to carry out His work. When you apply it by faith on a human being, miracles and healings manifest. If you apply it to a faulty instrument, the work of restoration is carried out in the faulty object. If you apply it on the materials being displayed for sale, customers come miraculously to purchase the materials.
In the scriptures above, anyone who is sick can call for the elders of his church to come and anoint him, pray over him and he will be made whole. It is an anchor for the faith of the sick. “The prayer faith shall save (heal) the sick”. When the prayer of faith is offered with it, the sick are healed. This anointing with oil is used by a young Christian who is still playing with sins. “…if ye have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him”. A matured Christian does not commit sin by habit. But in his own case, if sin is involved he shall be forgiven. It is a good way of ministering to the sick who is not yet matured in faith. That is why elders have to be called upon to pray for him to be healed, anointing him with oil.
But it is not only the young believers that use it. Strong Christians can also use it. It has done amazing things in the lives of matured believers too. It depends upon our faith. The powers from the anointing oil are limitless. Only God can explain the mystery behind it. That is why it has been used in some circles and the importance of it has been overstretched. Some have magnified it above the name of Jesus even. But this is biblically wrong. Some have used it as if it is magical oil. The anointing oil is not magical but supernatural in its operations.
It must be used with the knowledge of God’s ability to heal the sick. I once heard a couple Christians. Their pastor thought on the efficacy of the anointing oil. Some of them were living in a bungalow where the rooms face each other; it is similar to what we call in Africa “face-me I face-you” kind of bungalow. Because this couple, having a misunderstanding with their co-tenants, poured anointing oil on the doorstep of their fellow tenant. Because the oil is always slippery, the children of their co-tenant woke up, stepped on the oil and began to slide and fell down because of the slippery nature of the oil. The tenant who poured it on the floor saw it as a victory that God was fighting for them. That is an abuse of the anointing oil. It should not be used like this! It wasn’t the anointing oil per se that made your enemy fall on the floor. It was the slippery nature of the oil.
In South Western Nigeria, it was overstretched one time because in that part of the country, we are used to getting something physical to stick out faith to. It was either oil or water or candle or something else. But thank God, understanding is coming the way of many people that our faith principally should be hooked up on Jesus.
Anointing oil is very potent in its operations. The way the Bible explains it, I feel it’s mainly for the pastoral assignment – to be used for the good of the body of Christ. An evangelist on the crusade ground may not be able to use it for the crowd. In a crowd of ten thousand or more, how many people can you anoint on the crusade ground? That is why God gave us more than one method of healing. Different methods apply to different kinds of ministrations. One on one, an evangelist can still use it in his private or counselling session. It is very efficient in its operations. By it, cancer had disappeared and the dead have been raised up to life. There is no limit to its usefulness. Thank God for the anointing oil.
(4) The casting out of a devil
“And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
“Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed: for oft - times he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
“And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
“Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to me.
“And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.”
(Mat. 17: 14-18)
Jesus was on the mount of transfiguration with Peter, James and John. The rest of the disciples were beneath the mountain, trying to cast out a devil from the son brought by a man. They did not get headway until Jesus came down from the mountain.
Casting of a devil is a sure way of healing the sick. There are some sicknesses that came about because a demon is living inside the sick. And until the devil is cast out, there can be no healing to the sick. In the ministry of Jesus, some sicknesses He handled had a devil attached and causing it.
In the case above, the sickness is that of lunacy. Better still, we can say that it deals with the spirit of epilepsy for it used to cast him into the fire or water. That is what epilepsy does. It is a spirit that always brings shame and disgrace. The only way such a person could be healed was to cast out the spirit with the Word of God. The Word of God in our mouth is potent; nothing can resist it. When the devil is cast out, the sick is made whole automatically.
Jesus spent about a third of His ministry casting out devils. Today, we must learn how to cast out devils as a method of healing.
At times, we may not need to cast out a devil with our word. If the anointing is very strong on us, demons will normally come out as they touch us without necessarily casting them out. Consider these scriptures:
“And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;
“And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.
“And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.”
(Luke 6: 17-19)
Just mere touching Jesus, the sick were made whole. The demons were sent out. Jesus didn’t use His words here. By touching Him, the sick were healed and the demon-possessed ones were delivered. I am trusting God to come to the level of the anointing that as soon as I enter a church to minister, demons will begin to scream out and the sick will be made whole. It is possible in our days. In our days we are seeing many unusual things being done. To God be the glory. As you are reading this, command His healing power to flow into you. Lay your hand on this page of the book. I can see virtue coming into you to be healed. It is so in Jesus Name.
A word of caution
We need to be very careful these days. Many people have gone into deliverance ministration in order to show people that they are anointed.
The people they minister to show a display of acrobatics or gymnastics. Some manifest different displays of demonic manifestations. I understand it happens in deliverance ministrations. But what is the essence of showing their faces on television? Some ministers even behave as if they are powerful and they want to pull crowd by this means. Whatever we do in the Kingdom and there is a “show-off”, an element of pride has entered. Do not minister to impress people or to show people’s faces in deliverance. Let us be very careful that we do not use God’s grace to “show-off”.
Also beware of using a method that is not scriptural. Some go into error in deliverance ministration. They lay their legs on the sick. The Bible says that “we shall lay hands on the sick”, not leg on the sick. At times under a heavy flow of the anointing, the power used to flow into my legs at times. But I have still laid hands on the sick and not my legs. Several times under a heavy flow of the anointing, I have sat down on a chair with my legs shaking and vibrating. I would still lay hands and not the legs. At times, my legs would not be able to carry my body because of the heavy flow of God’s power, and then I would sit down, ministering to people under the anointing. Let us make sure we do things so scripturally.
I also need to sound a note of caution to those who over – stretch deliverance. These people see demons in everything. When they see a wall gecko, they say there is a demon involved. Mosquitoes, they say, are brought by demons. If you open your windows at night, mosquitoes will enter your house. The only thing that can destroy them is to use insecticide. When they see a spider in their room, they begin to cast out devils. The Bible says that “spiders are feeble creatures; they live in kings’ palaces.”
“The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in the kings’palaces”
(Prov. 30: 28)
Whether there is a spider in your house or not, has nothing to do with demonism. Clean your house regularly and you will get rid of them.
Some even get too far in deliverance ministry. I once handled a case between a couple that the husband would beat up the wife any time there was electricity failure; that it was the evil machination of the wife that caused it! In the present day Nigeria when the government battles with having stable electricity. It was so much that when the power station took away light, the wife would receive serious beatings from the husband. For God’s sake, if that is the case, every wife in my country would be a witch for we have never had stable electricity. This man refused to take advice or counselling. It eventually led to the break-away of the home. Such an act from this man is mental lunacy. But everything is in the name of deliverance ministration. I think some people have no knowledge of the Word. When you magnify the works of the devil more than the power of Jesus, such can happen. Magnify God. Magnify the works of Jesus more than the devil. The devil is powerless for Jesus Christ has stripped him of his power. Alleluia!
(5) The prayer of agreement
“Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they ask it shall be done for them of my Father in heaven”.
(Mat. 18: 19)
“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
“For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
“Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?
“And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken”.
(Eccles. 4: 9-12)
The prayer of agreement works effectively in our healing.
In the above passage, in Matthew 18: 19, Jesus taught this principle of agreement in prayer (for the sick). When two people agree together in prayer and ask God for anything, my Father will give it to them. It is true in the area of divine healing. When two people, (husband and wife or any two people) agree together and ask God for healing, the Lord will give it.
There are conditions for this prayer of agreement. The two people must be of the same faith, that is, they must believe in divine healing. They must also be feeding on the word of God, that is, not one being a man who hears the word of God and the other one a man or woman who goes to where the word is not preached. If the two of them pray together and the other one nullifies it after their prayer with his or her confession, they won’t get a good result. They must agree together in faith, confession and attitude so that they see the manifestation of healing quickly.
The Bible goes further to explain it from a secular point of view. This, I believe, is looking at it from marital point of view: “Two are better than one…” If the wife falls sick, the husband can agree in prayer with the wife and vice-versa. They will receive their healing. This is not limited to the husband and wife. Two friends – brother and brother, brother and sister or sister and sister, can agree together in prayers of agreement asking for healing and the Lord will answer their prayers. He will release healing from heaven. When you pray together in agreement with a partner, nothing is difficult for God to do. There have been testimonies along this line. Claim your healing now. He will do it.
Agree together with a friend of yours or husband and wife and ask for healing. The Lord will do it and that healing will manifest. Pray it now with a friend. The result will astonish you in Jesus Name. Amen.
(6) Taking God’s word as medicine
“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
“Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
“For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”(Prov. 4: 20-22)
One way to receive healing from the Father is to take the Word of God as medicine for your flesh. Most Bible teachers interpret “health” in verse 22 above as “medicine” to all their flesh.
If the Word of God will work for you as medicine, you have to attend to it. You must listen to it regularly. You have to bend down your ear to it or incline your ear to it. You must also read it regularly, that is, you do not let it depart from your eyes. You must also keep them in your heart and learn to recite it always. Then the word (of healing) will work the medicine for you.
If you go to a medical practitioner, he will prescribe some drugs to cure your sickness. Perhaps it is taking two tablets in the morning, two in the afternoon and two in the evening – before or after meal. You will take this prescription seriously and religiously. You will not want to miss a dose. You don’t miss it because you believe it will cure that sickness. That is physical medicine that has its adverse side effects. But the Word of God has no negative side effects. It works potently. It works miracles in your life. You must take it regularly to be effective in your life. The more you take it in, the better you become. In its case, there is no overdose. Take it in regularly. Pay attention to it. Recite it often and often. As you do, it is working in your body.
When I was studying the subject of pharmacology as a student in a medical school, we were introduced to what was regarded as the best text book on the subject in those days. The big textbook was written by Professors Goodman and Gilman. In the introduction to the textbook, the Professors made a statement that caught our attention then, that “every drug is a potential poison.” We were studying about drugs and the renowned textbook authors said that every drug was a potential poison. It was startling! But the Word of the Lord is not a potential poison. It is a healing drug. Read the healing capsules at the end of this book over and over and you shall receive your healing.
“He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions” (Ps. 107: 20)
There are different ways by which God sends His word to us. He can send His word by a preacher in his messages; you can read it in a book or magazine. He can as well send His word through tapes, audio and television. He can also send His word by you reading it in the Bible. Whatever way He sends it, the purpose is to make you sound in health and deliver you from destructions. The Word of God is quick and powerful (Heb. 4: 12), therefore use it to attack that sickness in your life. As you go on reading and meditating in the Word regularly, the power therein is entering your life and dissolving the sickness in your life. Spend time in the word.
There is no sickness that the Word of God cannot heal. Cancer, paralysis and other incurable diseases have bowed down to the Word of God. You will surely get a good result. I am sure of this. These days, many people do not have time for God’s Word again. They are busy looking for money and running after the things of this world. That is why, divine healing is now strange to people. In fact when you are exercising faith for healing, people always say that you are tempting God. No, you are not tempting Him. You are putting His Word to practice. His Word does not fail. His Word is forever settled in heaven.
“For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven”
(Ps. 119: 89)
The Word of God is settled in heaven. And God watches over His word to confirm it. He will not fail you. Quote the healing scriptures over and over again. You are bound to be healed. You are healed in Jesus Name. Amen.
(7) Healing in the Lord’s Supper
There is healing in the Lord’s Supper: when taken properly and biblically, God uses the ordinance of the Holy Communion or the Lord’s Supper, as it is also called, to heal the sick. There have been spectacular miracles and healings through the Lord’s Supper.
“For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
“And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
“After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.” (I Cor. 11: 23-25)
When we partake of this Holy Communion, tremendous power is released. His body was broken for your healing. He was given stripes before He died on the cross for your healing. And by those stripes, you were healed.
“…by whose stripes ye were healed”
(I Peter 2: 24)
By those stripes on His body, you were healed. The kind of the stripes He was given was not cudgel as you would beat a man or animal. Roman soldiers tied on the end of different strands of rope – like cords, objects like scalpels, broken bones and bottles. They tied the two hands of Jesus to a pole. There was an umpire who stood to make a command. At his bidding, the man that carried the strands of cords bundled together would wrap the cords around the waist of Jesus, pulled it and drew it. Blood was oozing out of those parts that were cut. It was so much that Jesus’ bowels were exposed. But not only His body was beaten like this; His visage (face) was beaten and battered (marred).
…His visage was so marred more than any man…
(Is. 52: 14)
Bible scholars who read the ancient languages of Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic told us that Jesus was given thirty-nine stripes. And medical science told us that all diseases and sicknesses in the world can be sub-divided into thirty-nine groups. In other words each stripe of Jesus took care of any group of sickness or disease including AIDS and those ones the devil had not yet sent into the world.
If you take the Lord’s Supper with the reality that His body had been broken for you, and you claim your healing thereby, you will be healed.
The first time I led people to take the Holy Communion was when I was a youth corps member, serving in Bauchi State of Nigeria then. As the President of the Bauchi State Christian Corpers Fellowship, I led the rest corpers in taking it. In the said meeting after preaching, we partook of it. Two Christian corpers were instantly healed from asthma. They gave a testimony to this healing publicly and we gave God the glory. Furthermore, the two corpers that were healed ended up getting engaged and they are married today, working for God in the full-time ministry. God healed them and connected them together.
Up till today, there is always healing when I lead people to partake of the Lord’s Supper. Take it meaningfully, not as one just eating ordinary bread and drinking ordinary wine.
Take note of this warning in an error we commit as we partake of the Lord’s Supper. Many people trivialised the Holy Communion. People take it as if it’s the Love Feast. It is not the Love Feast but Holy Communion; it must be taken by those who are born again. There are many churches where unbelievers gather together and they administered it. Only born again Christians should take it. Unbelievers are not worthy to take it until they are born again. Believers though can partake of it but they can take it unworthily.
“Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.” (I Cor. 11: 27)
Take it worthily. Discern the Lord’s Body that it was broken for you. Discern it also that the Body of Christ is one. The Body is not divided. We are united. As you partake of it, healing will flow into your body. Confess it (your sickness) to God and ask Him to heal you of your sickness. Jesus had carried your sin and sickness away. What He had taken away, you have no right to carry it on your body again.
Holy Communion is a communion of escape from all the plans and strategies of the enemy. You are escaped from all onslaughts of the devil. “The snare is broken and we are escaped.”
(8) The use of anointed clothes (to distant patients)
“And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
“So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. “
(Acts 19: 11, 12)
When there is a need to pray for the sick that is not where the minister is to be prayed for, God has provided a means by which such the sick can be ministered to. The handkerchief or apron of the man of God can be taken away to the sick and the Lord will heal him when it is laid upon the patient. Even evil spirit inhabiting such a fellow will have to run away and come out of that patient.
The explanation for this is that power (virtue) is always coming out of the minister. Just like in the case of the woman with the issue of blood, Jesus explained that power went out of Him (Mark 5: 25-30). In the same way, power is going out constantly out of the man of God. This power is transmitted into a handkerchief or apron. It can carry the power when it is transmitted into it. Since the anointing for healing is transmittable, this cloth on reaching the patient has the healing anointing in it transmitted to the patient’s body. Healing takes place and the sick is made whole. It takes faith of the sick in believing the Word to be made whole.
At the early part of this ministry, we finished the service one Tuesday evening. A woman came to me after the service that her sister was in the hospital having complications to the delivery of a baby. Doctors gave her a notice that they might likely operate on her.
I prayed for the older sister after the service, prayed over her right palm and I asked her to go lay the right palm over the sister’s abdomen that the power of God would touch her. The older sister took my word for it as I said it. She kept her right hand in the pocket. She used the left hand to pay the taxi fare. She got to the hospital about an hour after this. She laid her right palm over the sister’s abdomen and immediately normal labour started and the sister delivered safely. The baby came out of that sister normally and the delivery was rapid and normal. The older sister came the following day to share the testimony. To God be the glory!
When you apply any of these methods of healing, you are bound to get a good result of healing. Try them today. You are bound to be healed.
CHAPTER 7
MAINTAINING YOUR HEALING
It is God’s will to heal you. He has promised in the Word of God to heal you. If you are a child of God, you have cut a covenant of healing with your Father, God.
“…for I am the Lord that healeth thee”
Exod. 15: 20
The above sentence depicts God as He who healed you. It is your covenant right to be healed of God. He is your Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord that heals you.
“And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them, that hate thee.” (Deut. 7: 15)
The Lord will take away from you all sickness. He will put none, that is, He will permit none of the diseases of Egypt upon you. Diseases belong to Egypt. It is none for the children of God. You have the right to claim your healing for healing is the children’s head.
After you have been healed, you need to do the following so that you will be able to maintain your healing. Many people are healed and few days or weeks after the healing, the enemy brings back the old problem and they are afflicted with the same disease or even more. It does not need to be so.
Do the following:
(a) Guard your mind (heart)
“Keep thy heart will all diligence for out of it are issues of life”(Prov. 4: 23)
In the above passage, “heart” and “mind” are used as the same thing.
The mind is the battle ground of all attacks of the devil. The enemy is interested in running down your heart because here is the centre of good things that will come to pass in your life. It is a centre of treasures. Good thoughts are first processed in your mind as well as bad thoughts too. If the bad thoughts stay for long in your mind, you become used to it and they manifest in your character.
Concerning healing, the enemy will try and bring doubt to your mind and if you are not careful, you may lose it. You may feel the first sign of the symptom of that sickness or disease the Lord healed you from. You need to stand against it, reject any symptom and stand on your right. It requires a strong effort. That is why in the passage of Prov. 4: 23 above, the word “keep” has been interpreted to mean “guard”. It is like a watchman who is eagerly watching a house so that intruders will not enter. He guards it day and night. If you can consciously guard your mind from any “intruder” from interfering with it, it is a great battle you have won. The battle of the mind is not a small one. You will overcome it in Jesus Name.
You will need to put God’s word into your mind regularly and plead the blood of Jesus over your mind always. Victory is yours in Jesus Name. Amen.
(b) Have real faith
“Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him, but the just will live by his faith”
(Habakkuk 2: 4)
“Now the just shall live by faith…”
(Heb. 10: 38)
After you have been healed, you will maintain your healing by your faith. The enemy may want to steal your healing but by your faith, you will be able to stand strong.
In Habakkuk 2: 4, the Bible says that the just shall live by his faith. So it’s necessary to develop your faith well. Feed your faith with the Word of God. You may be healed in a spectacular way by the man of God but you will need your faith to sustain the healing.
For your faith to grow, you will need to listen to God’s word regularly.
“So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God”
(Rom. 10: 17)
Constantly feed on the Word of God by listening to messages on divine healing. Since you want to maintain your healing, you will need to feed on the word of healing.
You can also develop your faith by reading the Bible and also gospel books and magazines.
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
(2 Tim. 2: 15)
One way to be approved unto God is in the study of God’s word. And God’s word develops your faith. In other words, good faith that comes out of studying the Word of God is an approval unto God.
Do not lose your healing. You have to maintain or sustain it with a good faith from you.
(c) Speak right words
Your words determine whether you are going to maintain your faith or not. Christianity is really a confession of faith.
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised ;)”
(Heb. 10: 23)
Christianity is a lifestyle of positive confession. God has not given us the right to confess negatively. The Bible tells us “let the weak say I am strong. Let the poor say I am rich”. You confess positively, always.
If you want to maintain your healing you will have to say what the Bible says always.
“For by thy words thou shall be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”
(Mat. 12: 37)
The words of your mouth will either justify you or condemn you. If the words of your mouth are good and positive, you will surely maintain your healing. When you receive your healing, do not say anything negative against what you have received. When symptoms come, confess your healing. Do not doubt but stay on God’s word. The Word of God in your mouth will make your victory permanent.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue…”
(Prov. 18: 21)
Whatever you say with your mouth matters a lot. Your mouth produces death and life depending on what you say with your mouth. The confession of faith produces life and it produces death if you say anything negative. Speak the right words of healing after you have been healed. Don’t talk doubt again. You hold your permanent healing in your mouth. Let your mouth control your health positively.
The words of your mouth also bring health.
“…the tongue of the wise is health”
(Prov. 12: 18)
A wise man speaks health to his body. If you want to maintain your healing, begin to speak positively to yourself. Begin to say “I am healthy, I am strong. The greater One lives in me. Sickness is far from me. Disease is not my portion. I am delivered from every oppression in my life…” When your body hears these, they will be registered in your mind which will produce fruit as you have been saying.
Some years ago, Medical Science made a revelation. It was discovered that out of all the centres in the brain, e.g. speech centre, locomotion centre, eating centre, etc., the Master Control Centre is the Speech Centre. It controls other centres in your brain. When you wake up in the morning and you say “I am very weak today”, the speech centre will send a relay message to other centres in your brain saying that you are weak. The other centres will respond to that instruction, and then you will begin to feel weak. These centres will begin to respond to the instruction that had been given them. So, you see those centres will drop their activeness and you feel weak. The same thing goes the other way round. When you say, for example, “I am healthy”, other centres will pick up strength in your brain and you feel very strong. So, you can see that with your mouth, you can feel sick or healthy. What you say with your mouth matters a lot. That’s why the Bible says that the tongue of the wise is health. A wise man or woman confesses health and not sickness. Begin to confess your total healing today.
(d) Maintain a prayerful life
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
(James 5: 16)
If you want to maintain your healing, you will need to have a prayerful life. You must be a man or woman of prayer. Don’t just be lazy after you have been healed. Be fervent in the Spirit so that the enemy cannot bring that sickness upon you again. The fervent prayer of a righteous man releases tremendous energy (power) in its effect. Pray and let your life be saturated with power.
“But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.”
(I Peter 4: 7)
The end of all things is at hand. This world will soon pass away. That is why the devil increases his activities on earth affecting many people with sickness and disease here and there. He knows he has a short time left in the Lord’s calendar. Knowing this, you have to be sober and watch unto prayer. Be hot in prayer for the Lord so that the enemy cannot bring again the sickness or disease unto you. Don’t be lazy or lukewarm. Prayer changes many things and makes your miracle abide in your life. Prayer is the key. It is the master key. Give it a priority in your life. Your healing or miracle abides in Jesus Name. You will not lose it.
(e) Study the Word
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
(Joshua 1: 8)
There is power in the Word of God. In order to maintain your healing, you need to speak out the Word God always, meditate on it and practise doing it. By this, you will make your way prosperous. Your healing will spring forth speedily. When you meditate on the Word of God day and night, it will guard your mind against any onslaught of evil thoughts in your mind. You will not think of sickness or disease in your life but your thought will be based on the Word of God. The Word of God is divinely inspired. The divine inspiration in the Word will be released unto you as you study and meditate in the Word. Your life will be empowered.
The Psalmist gave us this testimony. In affliction, he said that God’s word has quickened him. To quicken means to make alive or strengthened.
“This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.”
(Ps. 119: 50)
As you read God’s word and meditate on it, you will be quickened by the power in the Word of God.
To get the power in the Word of God maximally, you need to meditate on it. There is the power of meditation that is not yet explored fully by the believer. People in oriental arts like kung fu or karate or people practising Grail Message or any of such, have gone far more than many believers in the practice of meditation.
Once when I was a student at the college of Medicine, University of Lagos, Idi-Araba, Lagos. I was in the students’ buttery relaxing with a bottle of soft drink. Suddenly some “Yoga boys” entered the buttery, ordering for a bottle of beer each. The bottles were placed on the table, arranged close to each other. These guys sat on the cushion chairs, all very quiet, looking at the bottles. They were there for a fairly long time, looking. I believe they were in meditation. Suddenly each bottle’s cover popped open one by one without anyone opening them. And they, (those guys) made a funny sound which could only be understood by them. Watching this scene made me leave the buttery. The atmosphere was charged. Another power had taken over. They were in meditation. Do not belittle the power of meditation. It has changed the minds of those people. They have gone to another world in the “spirit” which we call “astral travels”. If only believers can explore the power of meditation, we shall be turned to another “super-being” entirely. That is why the Bible encourages us to
“Meditate upon these things: give thyself wholly to them, that thy profiting may appear to all”
(I Tim. 4: 15)
“These things” in the above passage means the scriptural instruction, teaching and the Word, given by Paul to his son Timothy. You are supposed to meditate upon them, these things, and it will produce some noticeable blessings or profits in your life.
Take time to meditate on the healing capsules as outlined in this book. It will also help you maintain your healing.
(f) Be baptised in the Holy Spirit
When a Christian is baptised in the Holy Ghost, he begins to live a life that is buoyant and full power before his baptism. Baptism in the Holy Ghost is not an optional experience; it is necessary and compulsory for the believer.
“And, being assembled together with them, COMMANDED them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.”
(Acts 1: 4 capitalised words by me)
The word in the capital letters is for emphasis only. Any command of the Lord is to be obeyed, it is not optional. The Lord commanded us to be baptised in the Holy Ghost. It is because the Holy Ghost makes you live a fruitful Christian life. You may make heaven if you die without it. But you may not live a fruitful, stress-free and buoyant life as a Christian. The baptism makes us enter the realm of God’s power.
But there is one advantage of the Holy Ghost baptism I will share with us here. The Holy Spirit charges us, just like you charge a battery in your car when it runs dry. In the same way, He charges us and we become empowered again
“He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.”
(I Cor. 14: 4)
The word “edifieth” in the above scripture means “charges up”, just like a battery is charged when it runs dry. Speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of baptism in the Holy Spirit. When you are speaking in tongues in baptism and after the baptism, you are charging yourself up. In other words, you are empowering yourself.
Another dimension of the Holy Spirit baptism is that it renews our body when it is weak. It “quickens” our natural bodies. The word “quickens” means “it makes alive or well”.
“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”
(Rom. 8: 11)
The body of Jesus lied in the grave. The power of the Holy Spirit came down and raised up His body quickening it. Jesus was raised up by the power of the Holy Ghost. The Bible says if this same power of the Holy Ghost dwells in you, God will use this power to quicken your mortal body also. Remember, the same Holy Ghost that quickened the body of Jesus is the same Holy Ghost we received. It is not a different one. It is the same Holy Ghost. Therefore, He will quicken your mortal body.
When you have been healed, allow the Holy Ghost to quicken your body always.
How can this be? By praying much in the Holy Ghost. Your physical body will pick the life of God. Your body will be renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is well with you in Jesus Name. Amen.
(g) The Word of our testimony
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death”
(Revel. 12: 11)
There was a war in heaven when the devil rebelled against the authority of the Lord. There was a mutiny. The enemy wanted to take God’s place. Michael, the arch-angel, with his host, fought against the devil. The tail of the devil drew a third of the angelic beings in heaven (Rev. 12: 4). There was a formula the Lord gave Michael to use. It was the formula of the blood of Jesus (the Lamb) and the word of their testimony. Jesus had not come to the earth. He was the Lamb of God in heaven. The devil did not know the power of the blood of Jesus then. So, they used this power against him and they testified to their victory over the devil. Using this formula, the devil rolled with his angels, out of heaven. Victory was got over the enemy of our soul.
In the same way, if you will have permanent victor over the devil, you must learn how to use the blood of Jesus against him and testify to the victory of the Lord in your life. Declare it boldly that the Lord has given you victory over the enemy. He may bring doubt. Reject it and confess boldly that you have been healed.
In our crusades around the world, many people have been encouraged by the testimonies of people to what the Lord did in their lives. Many people were encouraged to believe God for their miracles which they later on received. To God be all the glory. But, many people, bless their hearts, are still shy and they feel that when they share their testimonies, the enemy will bring the problem again upon them. This is not scriptural. The enemy can’t resist testimonies that are given to glorify God’s work and miracle in your life . Then, they will be permanent in your life for ever.
I prophesy to you as you read this: “affliction shall not rise up again in your life in Jesus Name” (Nahum 9). You are healed, never to see the sickness in your life again, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
CHAPTER 8
HYMNS AND HEALING
I want to tell you the power of healing in hymns. Hymns are spiritual songs created by God to enrich our lives and bring down refreshing in the Holy Ghost. When composed under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they have a divine ability to calm down the troubled souls and to bring down healing on the weary and the sick.
My conversion to Christ was initiated by the old hymns in the Methodist Hymnal. Some of them were sung by Charles Wesley, Fanny Crosby and others, who sang to bring down God’s glory. The college organist made so much impression on me as he would lay his fingers on the harmonium playing different chords to different hymns. As we sang these songs in the Wesley College Chapel, Ibadan. Nigeria, my soul would be melted down, tears flowing down my face and a deep conviction in my heart, I would cry to God solemnly to use me to His own glory. Songs like:
Jesus Lover of my soul,
Let me to Thy bosom fly,
While the nearer waters roll,
While the tempest still is high,
Hide me, O my Saviour, hide
Till the storm of life is past;
Safe into the haven guide,
Oh, receive my soul at last!
Many of such songs ministered to my humble heart. “Jesus Lover of my soul Let me to Thy bosom fly” I fly to His bosom everyday.
The power of hymns was seen in the life of King Saul when the Spirit of God departed from him and evil spirit troubled him. David, the shepherd boy, was called in, played on the harp to soothen and calm him down and the evil spirit departed from him.
“But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.
“And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.”
(I Sam. 16: 14, 23)
The power of healing in hymns was used in the above example to heal the lunacy of King Saul.
I have used the power of healing in hymns to cure the sick. Many years ago, when this ministry was young, I was invited to the Polytechnic, Iree, Osun State, Nigeria to minister in a fellowship. After ministration, a student was referred to me, who had a depression and was not behaving well. The depression captured his mind and was behaving irrationally. After praying for him, I told the fellowship President to get him some cool songs and hymns, playing these over and over in his room, locking him in the room against distraction. The boy was made to do it. He went like that for a whole day. He was healed and sent me the testimony in Osogbo, our base, to the glory of God. There is power in Hymns. That is why it has been said by an old preacher: “A song may reach us where a sermon fails”. The healing message of a hymn can flow over a sinking soul and body like “ointment poured forth”.
We find divine healing in the “Songs of Moses”, which the children of Israel were commanded to sing and to teach their children, as it should “not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed” (Deut. 31: 21)
The Psalms have been used in public worship all down through the centuries, and are still so used throughout Christendom, including the Roman and Greek churches. Psalm 107: 8 is largely used in public worship; the refrain, “Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and for His wonderful works to the children of men!” being sometimes sung by thousands of voices.
From a hymn by Ambrose, Bishop of Milan (340 – 397 A.D.), it would seem that the dauntless old saint who rebuked the emperor, Theodosius the Great, and refused to permit him to enter the church until he publicly confessed his terrible sins in massacring some of the inhabitants of Thessalonia, who withstood satan’s power in his own body and claimed a death like that of Moses, whose eyes were not dimmed, nor his natural force abated when he was lifted out of mortality by the kiss of divinity. It was his hymn that helped him live such a life like Moses. Here is the verse in question:
“Grant to life’s day a calm unclouded ending;
An eye untouched by shadows of decay;
The brightness of a holy death bed blending
With dawning glories of eternal day.
Thank God that modern hymns on healing abound. Hymns like:
The great physician now is near,
The sympathising Jesus,
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus.
Refrain:
Sweetest note in seraph song,
Sweetest name in mortal tongue:
Sweetest carol ever sung,
Jesus blessed Jesus.
Thank God we can sing. We can praise Him everyday. Make use of these hymns in hymnal. There is power in hymns. Healing flows as you sing them. Sing them meditatively. Sing them and the power of healing will flow into your body.
You are healed in Jesus Name. Amen.
CHAPTER 9
HE GIVETH HIS BELOVED SLEEP
There is nothing more essential to our well-being-physical, mental and perhaps even spiritual than an adequate amount of refreshing, natural sleep.
A coach called Gene Timney once stated in the course of an interview that, in his opinion, plenty of healthy sleep is of more importance than anything else in the training of an athlete. He rated it as of higher value than proper diet, suitable exercises, “work outs”, or any other part of the training. “If he sleeps, he shall do well, but how to make him sleep is sometimes a problem. The above truth has been proved by medical authorities even till now.
God, and God alone, can give sleep. You may sleep on water mattress, fluffy pillow, cool breeze all around you, and very comfortable couch, but unless the finger of Omnipotence touches your closed eyelids and imparts sleep, there is no slumber for you. Not even a king can command sleep; “On that night could not the king Ahasuerus sleep … (Esther 6:1)
Many people suffer from insomnia. It is a sickness, for if you cannot sleep well, it can further lead to many other problems like hallucination and depression which can in turn lead to a loss of reasoning and mental problem.
Then you may ask: “How can I get this refreshing sleep from God?” Notice the words of Scripture “He giveth His beloved sleep” (Ps. 127:2). It is a gift and you have to ask for it in prayer. John reposed on Jesus’ heart. There is room for you and me, too. He was called “Beloved” because he took his place. You can take it, too.
Dr. A. B. Simpson says somewhere in his God-given writings, “You have not gone far if you cannot lay your head on Jesus’ breast and sleep by faith”. How is this possible? You need to have a clear conscience made pure by the precious blood of Jesus.
In Acts 12:6, Apostle Peter, doomed to execution by Herod, guarded by sixteen Roman soldiers, bound with chains, keepers before the door of his dungeon, was sweetly sleeping
“When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid … and thy sleep shall be sweet”
(Prov. 3:24)
Sleep has healed more sickness, relieved more pain and removed more symptoms than any medicine known to man.
When God wanted to create woman, He made Adam fell into a deep sleep and took one of his ribs to create the woman.
And the Lord God coursed a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
“And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man”
(Gen. 2:21, 22)
Sleep is important to man. God is the only one that can give it. He made Adam sleep a very deep sleep to perform an operation on Adam. He gives sleep, so anyone that lacks sleep should ask Him. You can say is there no drug that can make us sleep well? There are but they will not give a natural sleep. They can give you artificial sleeps that will not soothe your body. Such drugs that can induce sleep are: Hynoptics, narcetics, sedatives, etc. but they will give you artificial sleep.
The loss of sleep
Many reasons can lead to insomnia. Among the common ones are
· Sin
· Guilty Conscience
· Anxiety
· Hurt or Offences
· Disappointment from a trusted friend
· Marital troubles including marital infidelity
· Problem of wayward children
· Indebtedness
· Problem of sickness or disease
· Unfulfilled heart desires
· Demonic attacks etc.
The above causes can be solved by taking these steps:
- Ask for forgiveness of sin
- Cast your burden upon the Lord
- Pray about your problem
- Seek deliverance, if necessary
- Praise your way to victory
Finally, you must take note that insomnia is different from a temporary lack of sleep one experiences once in a while because God wants to speak to you. There could be times when the Master of your soul wants to speak to you in the middle of the night. If you are experiencing that, the only thing you need is to be quiet and listen to His still small voice as He wants to speak to you, just like it happened to the little Samuel in the Bible. When the Lord has finished relaying the message to you, then you will be able to sleep again peacefully.
I prophesy to you whatever will steal your sleep is consumed by the power of the Holy Ghost in the Name of Jesus. It is done. Sleep on well now, in Jesus Name. Amen.
CHAPTER 10
HEALING FOR CHILDREN
Jesus loved the little children and He cared for them as well. His ministry on earth was not limited to adults only. Little children were included in it.
“Then were there brought unto him little children that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
(Matthew 19: 13, 14)
Several times, the protocol officers went beyond the boundary of their duty. The disciples (the protocol officers) sent away the little children for gaining an access to Jesus. They disallowed them, but Jesus loved the little children. He wanted them to come to Him because His ministry was not entirely for adults only. They were then allowed to see Him. Some touched His dress. They sat on His laps. They smiled. He laid His hands on them. They felt loved. They felt caressed. We saw some powerful ways He ministered to the children in the scriptures.
The healing of Jairus’ Daughter
The story is told three times in the New Testament:
Matthew 9: 18 – 26
Mark 5: 22 – 43 and
Luke 8: 40 – 56
But Luke being a medical doctor paid a closer attention to this incident and portrayed it well by the virtue of his profession.
In verse 41 of Luke’s account, Jairus, a ruler of the Synagogue, came and fell at Jesus’ feet and besought Him to come to his house for his daughter’s healing. What Jairus did was unusual. While many others of his day despised Jesus and feared that they would be cast out of the temple, Jairus fell on Jesus’ feet, damning the consequence and besought Jesus for the healing of his darling daughter. He loved her so much and did not want her to die.
Jesus and disciples on the way to Jairus’ house met the woman with the issue of blood which He dealth with.
In his house, there were people who were weeping, others were mocking while others were just looking blank, thinking could He do it? Jesus sent all of them out for these would block the flow of power. Jesus then stood beside the deathbed of this little maid and taking the cold limp hand in His, said “Maid arise” (Luke 8: 54). And she arose with shining face. Jesus said to them “Give her meat” (v. 55). It was the love Jesus had for the children that drew her to heal this little maid of Jairus.
When they can’t take hold of their healing
When the children for whose healing we are praying are too young to take hold of the promise for themselves, we must get the parents to unite in faith for them.
When children are old enough to believe for themselves, we must read the Word of God to them, especially stories about the healing Christ. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Rom. 10: 17). They are often more ready to believe than adults. Sometimes their faith even encourages the older people to get well.
How to minister healing to babies? Read the scriptures on healing to them. The Word has power. As you read, the Word of God is entering their bodies. The Word will enter their bodies to carry out the healing you are praying for.
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
(Heb. 4: 12)
As you read the Word to them, it is entering their bodies to cause healing to come. Lay hands on them and pray for them. The Word that you have spoken to them is bringing forth a healing in their bodies. You will surely see a change if you have done this in faith. The Word is powerful. The Word is eternal. It is producing an effect in the body of your baby now. Do this in faith. Faith produces changes all over your baby’s body. Faith is faith, whether in children or adults, and faith is the victory that overcomes. (I John 5: 4)
CHAPTER 11
HEALING: Instant or Gradual
Healing can be instant or gradual. In both ways, the Lord has done it well. There are cases when the Lord will heal people instantly and there are those cases when healing will be gradual. Either way, we must believe and thank the Lord for His healing.
In 1986, when I was doing my National Youth Service Corps in Bauchi State, Nigeria, the corpers held an open – air crusade in which I was the speaker. It was held on the field of the School of Nursing. There was a female Nursing student that had two chronic sores on the right leg and the other was on the left leg. They were an embarrassment to this beautiful Nursing student. Covered with plaster, it was a shame to her anytime she was in uniform.
As I was ministering on the platform, God gave a Word of Knowledge which I said out publicly about the condition of this student. I just prayed by faith expecting God to act on her behalf.
After the programme, the Nursing students shared a testimony. One of the chronic sores got healed instantly, leaving a scar. The other one got healed, leaving a small part which was not closed totally. The second chronic sore got healed and the healing of the small part that remained was gradual. One chronic sore was healed instantly and the other one got healed gradually. There are cases when the Lord heals gradually. We need to have an eye of faith when the healing was gradual. Each day, it would begin to amend gradually until it was totally healed.
The instant healings
There were many instant healings in the ministry of Jesus. One of such healings was the healing of the woman with the issue of blood (haemorrhage).
“And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
“And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
“When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
“For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
“And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
“And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?”
(Mark 5: 25 – 30)
This was a case of instant healing to the woman with the issue of blood. The virtue (or power or anointing) came out of Jesus and got the woman healed. The faith of this woman got her healed. She was healed of the plague. God delivered her from this plague that had consumed her money and investment.
There are several cases in the scriptures where God performed healings in people’s lives instantly.
The gradual healings
But there are times when God would heal gradually. In such a case, the sick would begin to amend. This is seen in this incident:
“…So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
“When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
“The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
“Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
“And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
“Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to AMEND. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
“So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.”
(John 4: 46, 47, 49 – 53, capital word by me)
The nobleman had his son sick at the point of death. If you study the Bible well, especially the ministry of Jesus here on earth, much of His mighty miracles were done in Capernaum. This nobleman was from Capernaum. His son was at the point of death. The nobleman was very concerned about the state of health of his son.
What made this man to receive healing for his son? He believed the Word of Jesus. Jesus said to him “Go thy way, thy son liveth”. The Bible says in the scripture above: “And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way”
Believing comes first before receiving. He believed the word of Jesus. So, he got a miracle for his son. If you will believe the word of Jesus, you will get a miracle. Because he believed, his son began to amend at the very time Jesus spoke and promised him healing.
Believe the word of Jesus and you shall begin to amend. Believe first and then you will receive.
You should not look at instant healing as greater than the gradual one. Healing is healing. It is done. The power of the Lord has taken over before a case can amend. Just thank God for it and begin to confess positively to hasten the process of amendment. He has promised to do it and He does not fail. He will do it. Just begin to thank God for it.
CHAPTER 12
MY TESTIMONY
In my University days when I sensed the call of God on my life as a minister, I began to prepare myself to enter the ministry. (You will read more on this in my auto-biography: More Than Conquerors).
Shortly after my university days, I came to my parents at Ikirun in Ifelodun Local Government Headquaters of Osun State, Nigeria, to rest before I went for my NYSC Scheme.
I had conjuctivitis
In what looked like conjuctivitis commonly called”apollo” in those days, the devil attacked my left eyeball. It looked trivial before but later started gettng worse and worse by the day. The tissue of the affected eye started getting rotten by the day. One day my father was crying that my eye was getting rotten and worse by the day.
As a fresh graduate from medical school, the names of different eye lotions including “Chloraphenicol eye drop” was coming to my mind. Some names of different drugs I could use, started razing through my heart. The pharmacological names of those drugs were coming to my heart. But at the back of my heart, I knew it was a test for me. It was a trial the devil brought up to me before I ventured into the ministry work. Jesus Christ, before He started ministering was tempted by the devil in the wilderness for forty days (Matthew 4:1-11). He overcame the devil.
So, when this problem erupted suddenly, the Spirit of God told me that seeing God had called me to minister healing to people, the devil wanted to make me blind to despise my testimony that the man preaching to us also is blind.
I left my parents to go to a friend at Iyeku in Odo-otin Local Government Council of Osun State, Nigeria. This my friend was reading to pass the General Certificate of Education, Ordinary Level (GCE OL) to be able to enter the University for Further Studies. He was teaching in a Primary School in that town, I went to him, told him my challenge and prepared myself to fight it in his house seclusively. The following morning as he left for his school in the morning, I locked the door after him and began to wrestle with the devil in prayers. I knelt down from 8 a.m. to pray, claiming my healing. I prayed till 12 noon, took a mirror to observe the eyes. It was getting better but not totally healed. I was’ strong’ in kneeling down, so I lied down on the floor, praying and groaning. By 6p.m. as I stood up from praying, the whole eye was made whole. My friend that hosted me deliberately delayed in coming back from school to allow me to have a long time praying.
It was the beginning of my entrance into the healing ministry, just like Jesus had to face the devil in the wilderness. I faced him. I overcame. Immediately after this, the Lord spoke to me that”Son, go ahead praying for the sick. I have given this healing ministry to you. You will do mighty exploits for me in the Healing Ministry. The enemy of your soul is defeated”.
Listen to this: Don’t ever join people to condemn divine healing. It is very real. If I had not listened to God to approach it spiritually, I would be blind from the problem. But the Lord led me to know why it came and how best to fight it. Don’t get me wrong. Doctors are trying. They are doing their best. But medical science is limited. It is a bad thing when you doubt God and His healing power. It is an insult to Him. If your faith is low and can’t believe God, that is not a reason you should doubt Him or put all your trust in medicine. Don’t trust medical doctors too much. Trust the Lord who is able to bring something out of nothing.
I was dead
There are many things that could happen to us in this side of the world but God is always faithful to His word.
Shortly after my birthday celebration in 12th May, 2013, I fell ill; I finished preaching and was making a special announcement when I noticed that I could no more go forward. I then called on the Resident Pastor to take over.
At times when I felt that I needed rest, I would go inside to rest so that my body would feel strong again. But this time around, it was not so.
My wife was praying for me with a female Pastor, an intercessor. By around 12 midnight on 21st May, 2013, I fell down from the bed and it made a loud noise “gbam” as if a log of wood had fallen from a three-storey building. I dropped down dead on the floor. My wife and her partner intercessor ran to my room and found me dead on the floor. And immediately it happened the light went off. Everywhere was in darkness. So, my wife and her partner went into spiritual warfare calling me back to life. After about an hour after this, I came back to life.
I was then taken to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo (LAUTECJ) for medical attention. That day as I entered the private room where I was admitted, there were heavy rain and thunderstorm, threatening as if that building in which I was admitted would collapse and crumble.
A series of tests commenced on me. Professors, Doctors and specialists were brainstorming on the possible cause of the problem. I was referred to the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, Nigeria for a CT scan. I was still in coma. The ambulance from Osogbo left for Ibadan around 4pm. While coming back, the ambulance broke down in the middle of the road around 10pm. This was another miscalculation of the devil. So they sent another ambulance to evacuate me from the scene. From Osogbo to Ibadan to and fro, I didn’t know anything. I was still in coma.
I lost my voice and memory. The Lord restored everything because prayers were going on around the clock for me. The teaching hospital hired a speech therapist to train me how to speak again. She came to me teaching me to say after her “Praise the Lord”,” Jesus is Lord.”But I couldn’t co operate with her. It was a weekend. By the following week Monday she came, she found me speaking. She was amazed, knelt down and asked for my prayers and after about thirteen days in the hospital, I was discharged.
Later, my wife and I took a trip to the USA where I underwent a thorough medical examination. The medical team in that hospital gave me a bill of clean health. Why vital statistics were all normal. The Head Doctor there said “there was nothing wrong with you. Your body is normal”
The attack came to stop this ministry. A sickness that took away my voice and memory had taken the ministry. All the demons and principalities in different countries I had preached, combined together by network, to attack me. But God still prevailed over the devil. After that incident, we had travelled to many countries, preaching the gospel to set people free.
The way a man reacts to situations shows his spiritual level. Some people said that it happened because I was not taking care of my health, some said it was because I believe in divine healing and was not taking drugs. Some went further to say that I was careless with my health. But very few people saw it as an attack against the ministry. Those people said that I should get more people to begin to pray for my mission work all over the world.
Take note of this that when your work provokes the devil, there could be a reaction. I believe in Western Medicine, I wouldn’t have gone to a medical school if I didn’t believe in Medicine. But I believe that no matter how much care you give your body medically, it doew not stop the enemy from attacking especially if your work is troubling the devil in his kingdom. Everybody has to be prepared against the evil day. Jesus even told us that “… Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof” Matthew 6:34
That is, each day you wake up has enough evil in it. But it will not come near you. When I look at my life, I am a bundle of miracles (see my autobiography. More Than Conquerors) to read more.
It is too late for me not to believe in divine healing and health. Right from my youth, that I am alive today, is a testimony. The devil had planned to kill me before now. My mother lost two of her children within three months. The enemy wanted to kill me too. The Lord didn’t allow the evil ones to, because He had a plan for my life. Then the enemy put a hunch at my back and I happened to be a bad stammerer.
Furthermore, I was wearing herbalist’s leather girdle around my waist for years. It was for protection so that the enemy might not be able to kill me. That was a way my father knew to protect me. One day, in this turbulence, my father took me to the Chief witch in our extended family compound, to show him mercy so that the witches might not kill me too. The woman told my father she would beg her colleaques to show me mercy, asking my father to come back the following day.
That day, when my father went to this head witch, she told my father in my presence, that I would be killing a red-necked lizard to make concoction for me to drink, saying the bigger the lizard the quicker is my miracle. So, I had to learn how to throw stones and use a catapult to kill lizards. Early in the morning, I would feel nauseated when I drank the concoction. It will never be better for the devil! May the Lord quicken his entrance into hell fire!
Do you then think that I will not believe divine healing at this level? The Lord that saved my life and is still doing same will be my God. I believe totally and absolutely, without an atom of doubt, in divine healing. I will preach it all over the world!
Take note of this “the word works when you put it to work!

CHAPTER 13
THE TESTIMONY OFPASTOR (MRS.) FAITH OLUBUNMI FALOLA
Pastor (Mrs.) Faith Olubunmi Falola is the wife of Rev (Dr.) Francis ‘Tunde Falola, the President of the Hidden Manna Ministries. I got engaged to her by a divine leading. God had told me that I would meet her in Osogbo as I was coming to start the ministry. And it was God that told me to marry her.
Shortly after we got engaged, I found out that she had fibroid leading to heavy flow of blood in her menstruation (medically called “menorrhagia”). She would bleed so much that she would trek from Government Dental Centre, Osogbo, down home without taking a taxi-cab to avoid her white uniform getting soaked in blood. As a dental nurse, her uniform was white. With this, she was also suffering from an acute ulcer, giving her pain.
One day as I was travelling on ministration, I went to her house to say “bye-bye” Her condition was pathetic. I met her in ulcerative pain, rolling on the bed. I had to suspend my travelling and started praying for her to recover. From morning till evening, I had to intercede for her.
That was her condition before we got married. After we got married, she continued in this case of menorrhagia and ulcer. It got so much that we had to believe God for her healing. I admired her level of faith. That was why I christened her FAITH. Her parents didn’t name her Faith but me.
On our first visit to Indian Embassy in 2005, we stayed in a hotel one night to go there the following day. She bled throughout the night till the following morning. Thank God she was led to take along beverages along from home which she was drinking through the night.
At an Indian airport coming back home was a battle against the heavy flow of blood. She had to run away from her seat to the toilet just anytime and anywhere.
We hated the doctors’ report for it would not be good. A doctor eventually gave the verdict: Operation! She hated it and was staying in faith for her healing. I joined her in faith, quoting over and over again the healing scriptures. By stubornly holding on to faith, she was totally healed. The heavy flow of blood stopped, the ulcer was no more and her health was restored till today. Be careful what you call impossible. God does not dissappoint you when you hold unto Him in faith. May we have enough faith to take Him at His word.
On the way to America
In 2014, just a year after I was raised back to life, my wife fell ill. She was having insomnia, an inability to sleep. With a doctor telling us that it could be due to malaria, she treated it, felt better and we set for U.S.A to attend some programmes that had earlier been planned for. In the plane, it got worse. We eventually landed in Texas for a programme. In Texas, it was worse that I had to rush her in an emergency to a hospital without us having medical insurance cover or anything. To Colorado, it was warfare. In the programme there, she was rushed out while I was ministering. My host in Colorado tried and did his best.
From there we moved to Maryland for another programme. This was where she was rushed again to a hospital in Maryland. Doctors could not find anything except to say that she drunk much water. The journey from Maryland to Nigeria was hectic as she had to battle with her health. She spoke in tonques for over fourteen hours in the plane on our way back to Nigeria. She didn’t keep her mouth shut.
It was in Nigeria that it was discovered that she was dehydrated and had to take in water again. The two discoveries in America and Nigeria contradicted each other. Then God healed her. The same God who healed her of fibroid, ulcer, menorrhagia and dehydration is alive and is still in the business of healing. Our God heals only if you believe in Him. His word works if only you put it to work. Don’t doubt God. Our God heals. Trust Him and He will not let you down. My wife has this testimony that God is her Healer
“And (God) said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee which I have brought upon the Egyptians. For I am the Lord that healeth thee” (Exodus 15:26)
CHAPTER 14
HEALING CAPSULES
“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
“For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”
(Prov. 4: 20, 22)
The word “health” in verse 22 can also be read as “medicine”. The Word of God is medicine to all your flesh.
The following scriptures which I call “healing capsules” must be read over and over again. Read them, meditate on them and digest them until they become implanted in your heart. When these capsules enter your spirit, healing will come and you will maintain your healing thereby.
A word of advice to you is that you do not read them only once. Read them over and over again until they became part of you.
It is not enough to leave the scriptures once you have been healed. Read them over and over again to maintain your healing and to keep yourself healthy always. The common diseases were written out under each. The word will enter your body and heal those sicknesses and diseases.
